Initial Evaluation (45 min)
The first visit with the physical therapist consists of a medical and injury history review, followed by a thorough evaluation of the musculoskeletal system. The therapist will assess strength, flexibility, range of motion, quality of movement, balance/stability, and a postural analysis.
During the first session, we expect to perform a variety of movements in order to further investigate WHY you may have your current issue. As physical therapists, we must help you understand that movement limitations are causing your pain and discomfort.
We will then conclude the first assessment by discussing the plan of care and how we will move forward with your home program. The home program we begin to assign is essential in achieving results with us because we dedicated in changing movement for long term benefits, not for the "quick-fix." We absolutely want to help achieve the goals that YOU have in mind because that's what matters.
Follow up Treatments (45 min)
Physical Therapy treatments are designed specifically for each individual patient. Each session is intended to address a multitude of goals discussed with the patient in the first visit. These goals can be achieved by soft tissue mobilization (Graston Technique, myofascial decompression, myofascial release), joint mobilizations, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, postural training, and kinesiotaping using the Fascial Movement Taping (FMT) technique with Rocktape. We continue to emphasize the value of our passive techniques, however what's most important in your care is the movement education you enforce in your body (i.e. strengthening, stretching, balance training). This includes paying good attention to your habits at work, home, your exercise/fitness regimen, diet, sleep, etc. Our sessions are extremely interactive and we hope to help you move so you can do the things you love to do in your life.
